Coming up with Book Ideas -- with Giveaway

Donna Schlachter • Oct 06, 2022

Today I welcome guest author Judy Baker as she shares about her sisterhood series and offers a chance to enter to win a very special giveaway.

Idea for a Book

As a writer, most ideas for a book just pop into my head and it grows from there. Not so for my June released Women’s Fiction novel. When I wrote YaYa House, I thought about my sister and the choices she had made in her life and how it led to becoming homeless. I read a plaque on a wall once that said, “Bad Choices make Good Stories.” It’s a sad saying, but true. Yet, at the same time, as a writer, we can turn the Bad Choices into Happy Endings. As I wrote Ya Ya House, I found it therapeutic to use words to write the poignant scenes and turn those words into positive words. Words are a powerful thing. Do you find yourself using real life tragedies in your writing, and was it therapeutic for you?

As Judy Baker, I love writing western novels, but when inspired by my grandmother, I started writing contemporary romantic suspense as Anna Sugg. My novels are filled with mystery, secrets, murder, love, and ghosts, and you will always find a dog character in my stories. By the way, my Christmas series will warm your heart. I’m a person who always have a half FULL glass. Are you? Or is it always half empty?

I can’t let a year go by without writing a sweet clean Christmas romance story. This week Christmas Without You was released on Amazon. Read a blurb for both books on my website or Amazon.

I want to shout out to all readers who write reviews. Readers help make a successful author by their reviews. Thank you.

Giveaway: YaYa House is about four women coming together to discover they’re not too old for experiencing new adventures. One of my characters makes custom made jewelry, so for those of you that leave a comment, you’ll have a chance to win a custom-made piece (see picture below). You’ll love it. U.S. only please. (By the way, Sherry is my sister who makes jewelry – one of a kind.)
