One of Titanic's Many Mysteries -- book spotlight

Sarah Lamb • Feb 08, 2023

Today I welcome author Sarah Lamb as she shares about just one of the many mysteries discovered about the Titanic.

On February 13, April 17, I’ll be releasing two runaway mail-order bride books. What’s unique about these, is the ladies become passengers on the Titanic. I love to share historical facts in my books, and this one is no different. The Titanic was not only filled with luxury, but it was also shrouded in mystery.

As Mathilda will find out soon, not all the passengers aboard the Titanic used their real names for travel. For her, that’s a blessing, she’s trying to escape danger hot on her heels. For the families trying to find out if a loved one was there during the disaster and if they survived, it was a curse.

But why would people want to use a false name when traveling? Pseudonyms were not just used by the rich, but also by those with very little. First, class, second, third, and crew all had people on the Titanic with false names. For some of those on the Titanic, we know why. A man abandoning his blind wife, another kidnapping his children, a performer, a gambler, a woman eloping with her sweetheart, a man sneaking away with his mistress…the list goes on and on. For others, there doesn’t seem to be a reason, such as the wealthy and easily recognizable couple, and the man who used his brother’s name.

While we will never know why these individuals decided to travel under a false name, you’ll be able to learn why Mathilda, and her older sister Louise did.

One thing is for sure, this is going to be Mathilda’s adventure of a lifetime, and it’s starting off on the Ship of Dreams.
