Most readers want their hero to be swarthy, strong, silent, and sensationally good looking.
Walter isn’t anything like that.
He first appears when he falls off his horse, hits his head, and almost drowns. A woman saves him and nurses him back to health.
Except he can’t remember anything about his previous life. Well, almost nothing.
The Civil War is vivid in his mind. So much so that he dreams about it, frightening nightmares that may be true—or may not be. He knows his first name, but not his last. He remembers his wife Julia, and his children. Georgia. Peaches.
